Braces%&*$#!!!!!!?
Ok so I just got spacers abuot 2 weeks ago and they hurt really bad!!! So here are my questions:
1- On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 the worst, how much do braces hurt after you get them in?
2- How much does it hurt compared to spacers?
3- Reccomended colors?

I didn’t have a problem with spacers - then again I only had 2 spacers in between my molars (1 on each side) in order to make room for my expander (I have the kind that only uses 2 teeth in total for anchorage and you don’t have to turn). The expanders were just annoying in that I would be chewing on the rubber (it would stick up) although close to the third day they were starting to irritate me and hurt a little bit.
The braces themselves didn’t hurt that much either. It only hurts afterwards when you go and try and chew a hard piece of food!
I would rate the spacers as a 2 just because they were incredibly annoying and the braces as a 4 only because of attempting to eat "normal" food right away (trust me, it wasn’t a pretty sight!). The worst was when I got in my 2 elastics to close the gaps where my teeth were pulled (had 2 teeth pulled on both side of my mouth on the upper jaw) - that night I didn’t sleep much only because of the pain of the elastics and the expander and I didn’t have any ibprofen on hand at the time.
As for colours, it doesn’t really matter. Mine are sort of "blah" as in no colour, but colours are honestly the least of my worries!
The part that will hurt is when they put on a thicker guage wire and tighten them! Especially when they have to unclip part of the bracket to take the wire out!! It also may hurt if your teeth are all over the place…I just got my bottoms on the other day and couldn’t sleep because I have one tooth that got pushed out a bit and that tooth hurt for about 48 hours. Ibprofen will be your best friend!!!
after you get braces hmm i’ll say a 10!
sorry. and you can’t even compare them to spacers…colors, i recommend dark ones because they make your teeth look whiter =]

10 - spacers hurt only where they are, braces hurt all over your mouth. Believe me- its painful.
Silver because they blend in better.
It does hurt and it’s a hassle, but keep your mouth clean and it’ll be over before you know it. It’s worth it, hang in there.
Okay so… Braces don’t really hurt depending on whether you get the clip-on kind or the colored kind, the clip-ons hurt less. maybe a 4 outta 10. Compared to spacers, they hurt a little less. Okay, so colors… I like the kind where its like a pattern, like blue/darkblue/blue/darkblue and so on. Lavender looks nice too, considering that they’re BRACES.
Here’s a little warning. You won’t be able to eat anything but soup and soggy pasta for the first few days, it’s horrible, but trust me: you’ll be able to eat ANYTHING after that!
#1- I say a 8 or 9 but after a few days your mouth adjusts
#2- Never had spacers but i think braces hurt more because you’ll get them tighten every now and then.
#3-dark colors like black or blue…but you decide.
1- about 10. it depends on how painful your ortho is. but braces do hurt when tightening and after u get them tightened.
2- my spacers didnt hurt(im pretty sure).
3- Any colors you like.
braces will hurt alot a 10 when you first get them and it’s not only the soreness it’s the irritation your cheeks and lips and cuts it’ll be horrible for the first two weeks of braces. then everything will calm down. take a pain reliever before you go to the otho’s office to reduce the pain. your not going to be able to eat anything solid for a while i made the mistake of thinking i could eat a hamburger i bit as hard as i could not knowing how sore my teeth really were and my teeth went full force into excruciating pain as soon as they touched the soft bread and the worst part i barely made an indentation in the hamburger and i bit as hard as i could and this was like 20 minutes after the braces were put on the pain just got worse from there on but it’ll go away in about 2 weeks 1 week if your teeth heal quickly. but it’s al worth it in the end my teeth look so much better than they looked two years ago. good luck
1. well i have braces in the first 7-10 days it will hurt i was like in pain i couldn’t eat and i had to eat a really slow and i had to drink alot cause it hurt when i ate food!!! Dont worry after those days u will feel beter it will take time for ur mouth to get used to brace come on there will be medal in ur month thats kind of wered for ur mouth!!
2. when i got my spacers it didnt hurt well it hurt for like 2 hours but it didnt hurt. if u think spancer hurt braces hurt worst but after that u will feel so much better with ur braces.
3. i had black then black and purple and now i have blue and purple. Like i am a skater and my fav colors are purple and black but i like dif colors too like if ur girly purple and blue or pink and purple it really counts how u r so like yea

braces dont hurt at all.it might hurt a little when there moving but you will hardly notice it.ive had spacers before and they hurt sooooooo bad but braces are nothing compared to them.spacers are in between your teeth(ouch!!!!)but brace just have wire on the out side.hope this helps
First of all, you should know that different people experience different levels of pain with braces.
Braces hurt more than spacers, and you will be really sore for about a week at the most. It will be sore and will hurt to eat, and it might also feel like your lips are shriveled!!
To answer your questions:
1-Like i said, it’s different for different people, but probably about 7.5 or 8.
2-Umm.. well the soreness is a little bit worse, but all that metal in your mouth makes you think it’s a lot worse!!
3-Well… i like pink or grey. Grey will blend in with the braces more and that is what i always liked because idk i guess it just blended in more!!

1. 5/10 for me… but for you .. could probably be a 7-8ish? I guess for me the braces didn’t hurt as much. I had them for about 3 years… and so it hurts but i basically somehow ignored the pain.
2. Well spacers i guess is when u have those small rubber bands that they put in between your teeth at the back. And as the weeks pass by … they probably in a way are shifting/moving your teeth in preparation for wearing your braces. And since braces are doing the same thing as spacers (cept it’s with more power), it probably hurts more than spacers, but not too much. But it really depends on how bad your teeth are–to rearrange them to be straight. For me, it was like having spacers inbetween each tooth because once they tighten your braces… it really hurts. But then again… i always bit into my apples and ate hard food (when i’m not suppose to >3<), so it also adds to the pain.
3. Hmm… well i liked the blues ones, but red ones show more…. and green ones aren’t bad either :p
But if you’re nervous about getting braces… don’t be. It’s not that much of a different from spaceers… except for when you "get" your braces (since they need to get a mold of your teeth and stuff). The process of getting braces might hurt for 2 weeks. But that should be it. the rest is just the pain of getting them tightened (every month or so?)…. AND brushing them after every meal … or just every day .. if you find it too troublesome.
I got them off a year ago and am wearing retainers. Wearing braces is somthing you get use too… so you’ll get use to the pain =).
hey- well my braces hurt for about 2 days then started to feel better and felt normal a week after and trust me spacers hurt WAY more than braces. i usually get the colors blue and yellow for my favorite hockey team(bflo sabres). dont get white dark green or red(unless for holidays)
I’m 20 years old and i had braces for three and a half years from 8th grade to 11th.
1. Compared to something like breaking a bone I’d say a 5, but as far as mouth pain then definitely a 10. The pain is excruciating the first 2 weeks, and by the third week you’ll be able to eat other things besides mashed potatoes and jello. Also, whenever you get them tightened they should hurt, although not as bad, for about 2 days.
2. Spacers didn’t bother me too bad but everyone is different. To me, they just felt like i had steak stuck between my teeth but i had no pain except for the teeth they were touching.
3. Don’t ever get white. They stain very easily!!! I used to get turquoise and baby blue a lot, but i’d get specific colors for holidays like black and orange for Halloween. I look back at pictures from when i had braces and all those colors are very…bold. If i got braces again i’d go with light gray. They wont stain and they don’t stand out nearly as much as those vibrat colors.
Despite all the pain and not ever wanting to smile, they are VERY worth it in the end! Just make sure to wear your retainer so you dont have to get braces again!
Okay, well I have had my braces since the end of Janurary. It hurt a lot at first (I REALLY regretted bitting down! Don’t try it!)
To answer your questions:
1. The pain isn’t immediate, but it will start hurting really bad, so 9.
2. It hurts a lot more, you can’t eat very easily.
3. Black looks really good!
they hurt as a 7 hurt about the same as spacers and good colors are for a girl blue , pink , green and boys grey black
what are spacers???
I dont have those, unless they are the elastic bands that go between your teeth!!!
