How could I complain about a horrible dentist?
My daughter had a bad experience with a dentist. She was a dentist among others in a dental group. I would like to write a letter and complain, but wonder who or what I could write it to.

You need to find out if the dentist is an associate or partner. If she is an associate, I would recommend scheduling an appointment with the practice’s owner to discuss your concerns. If she is a partner, there’s not much to do at the level of the practice. If it was a matter of something REALLY bad, you can always file a formal complaint with your state’s dental board.
You’ll have to find out the number of the person running the group. There should be contact information on brochures or any packets given out. If not, you can try Google. Even if that doesn’t work, you can call the office and ask to talk to a supervisor to see what they can do about it.

I would first contact the dental group. If she is part of a group, those professionals need to know. This is where correction can take place. That is what you are hoping for, correct?

First of all, if they are a member of a group… Find this out: is this Dentist a Partner of Associate? If she is an associate, she is not an owner and the partners will want to know what is going on. Call the office and ask.. You don’t have to say who you are.
Then if you feel there was a problem with standard of care of quality of care or ethics, contact your state dental board. They accept anonymous complaints and trust me, they take them ALL seriously, it will be investigated. You can find it by searching "your state name" + state dental board… Good luck and so sorry you had a bad experience, even more so that your daughter did
