I need help finding individual dental insurance for myself, in Virginia.?
I live in Virginia and I need some dental insurance for myself. I tried google and I only could find one company that had individual dental plans, but they never call me back. Can anyone suggest some other companies? I am not looking for any kind of discount plans or scams, I want real dental insurance. I am unemployed and my boyfriend would be paying for it. I need a lot of work done on my mouth immediately so I need a plan that will allow me to do that.

There are so many out there to chose from but I would strongly encourage you to visit this great site: http://www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago when I was in college and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all of my dental services since. From crowns, fillings, extractions, Cleanings, and even my braces. They even had my affordable benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck and Hope this helps
Dear n2007:
There are many web sites out there who are dental discount plans yet want to spin it as though they were selling you dental insurance. Dental insurance may help you resolve many of your dental care needs.
One of the most important factors in buying dental insurance is actually talking with a license insurance agent. Generally you are not going to locate these license agents at a dental discount plan office.
Many dental insurance plans are based on the insured’s zip code. The easiest way at this point then, is to enter your zip code at http://www.insurancecompany.com and view only the dental insurance plans displayed that are available in your state.
I have taken the opportunity to provide a brief description of what an Indemnity or an insurance plan type is for you, as noted below. I hope this dental insurance information helps you.

What is an Indemnity or Dental Insurance Plan ?
Indemnity - Dental Insurance
This is the plan where you choose your own dentist. The dental insurance plan pays the dental office (dentist) on a traditional fee-for-service basis. A monthly premium is paid by the client and/or the employer to an insurance company, which then reimburses the dental office (dentist) for the services rendered.
An insurance company usually pays between 50% - 80% of the dental office (dentist) fees for a covered procedures; the remaining 20% - 50% is paid by the client. These plans often have a pre-determined or set deductible amount which varies from plan to plan. Indemnity plans also can limit the amount of services covered within a given year and pay the dentist based on a variety of fee schedules. Some typical features of these plans:
High deductibles before coverage begins (well-designed plans don’t apply the deductible to preventive services)
Probationary periods on certain procedures that last up to a year
Annual dollar limit on benefits
Chose your own dentist
Companies selling these plans are regulated by state insurance departments
