I’m a undergraduate student at the college. I am interested in majoring at Dental Hygiene (B.S) program. I would like to find a part time job or any volunteer position at the dental clinic. But almost most of the part time jobs required some clinical experience. But I’m just starting off now. I have no experience. Any idea?
Thank you

Hey, I’ve been assigned to be a school nurse for a day, and to teach a group of 16 kindergartners about dental hygiene.Mind you, I’m a student nurse, I’m not an educator or teacher or anything like that for the school system.. .I only get 20 minutes, and I’m kind of lost at this points on what to teach. Like, of course I’ll say brush 3 times day, floss, candy causes cavities, but I was curious as to what else I should brush on.

Also, I really really really want a game or activity to do with them, since they learn best through activities. Any ideas with that would be awesome as well.

I’m doing a project in about 3 weeks at a elementary school. I’m going to be teaching a group of five year olds about dental hygiene, and I was going to give each child a toothbrush when I was done. I don’t mind spending .50 on each child at Target, but since I am in nursing school, I would love to find something cheaper.

Do you guys have any tips?

Hey there, I was reading an interview with Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk when he said,
""In college, we read about a group of people who were shown photographs of dental decomposition in various stages. The people who were shown photographs of mild deterioration and mild tooth loss increased their dental care, their dental hygiene. But people who were shown severely deteriorated mouths, hideous photographs, those people just shut down entirely. They quit brushing their teeth and flossing altogether. It actually made them worse."

Does anyone know what he was talking about?

My first two years were done at a community college and at the time i was taking the necessary classes for dental hygiene. Now i go to E.W.U. and i want to be a dentist but i have some catch up . I can finish all my necessary classes in 4 years but i’d be grouping alot of harder classes together each quarter and going to summer school. Should i do this and risk lower grades or would dental schools care if i spaced these classes out and took 5 years to get my Bio degree?

I guess I should ask why isn’t dental Hygiene not such a big deal in say Europe but over in the US a brownish, or yellow smile is completely disgusting?
how expesnisve could a toothbrush and toothpaste be in London?
shakermaker: okay? We are now free, but you still have grey teeth..wtf?

Canada had a huge surplus in money this year, why doesn’t it start a new dental care plan so that everyone can have dental coverage without having to pay ass loads of money themselves or to insurance companies?

It’s stupid because so many sicknesses and diseases are linked to dental hygiene and maintenance, why wouldn’t they implement dental care as a preventative sickness measure to help us Canadians maintain good health?

This outrages me so much.

Because…I see commercials about becoming dental assistants all day, everyday but i don’t ever see any about dental hygienist.I also can’t find any 2 yr or community colleges that offer dental hygiene in TN.How can it be a growing career if its so hard to find a school to go to for it?

I’d really hope to be a dental hygienist, but I just don’t know about it anymore. It seems too difficult to get into.
