Will it be good for dentists? Will it be bad? Will dentists make less money? Will dentists make more money? Or will universal healthcare only affect medical doctors? Because dentists have private practices, which means the government doesnt pay their salary. However, the government pays medical doctors salaries. Any clue on how universal healthcare would affect a DENTIST?

My first two years were done at a community college and at the time i was taking the necessary classes for dental hygiene. Now i go to E.W.U. and i want to be a dentist but i have some catch up . I can finish all my necessary classes in 4 years but i’d be grouping alot of harder classes together each quarter and going to summer school. Should i do this and risk lower grades or would dental schools care if i spaced these classes out and took 5 years to get my Bio degree?

I want to choose another career path and thought about starting here.

Does anyone think this is a good choice? I prefer working in calm environments and around small groups of people… I actually feel calm at the dentist.

So I have a cousin my age, and she ALWAYS gets her teeth whitened at the dentist. Isn’t it expensive?

I live in the State of Washington and my employer does not offer Dental insurance until march 2010 . I need a root canal and extraction done on a few teeth it’s at the emergency level . Is it possibly to purchase an individual plan from some insurance company just so I can get in the door . 99% of dentists won’t even talk to you without insurance and I don’t blame them . I don’t care if I end up paying 1000’s of dollars I just need to get the work done does anyone know an insurance like this and if so will generally a dentist accept it and do the work and take payments ? Sorry if this makes little sense im in a lot of pain .

Im trying to see that if Health care also includes dental care. I hadnt been to the dentist for years since it was too expensive. I am writing a paper and I need something that I can relate to the health care discussion.

I need to see a dentist about a toothache I’ve had since December. I lost my job and benefits last September. I can’t afford to pay a dentist cash. I do have a small reserve, though, and want to know if the discount dental plans out there really help to save money? I don’t want to get insurance because the premium will be more expensive than just walking into a dentist’s office and paying cash.

my mom had pretty weak teeth and after broken bridges and exctractions, had them pulled today. She just got the denture, but hates it. Shes a beautiful woman in her 40’s who just cant afford implants at the moment. She’s paying for me to finish school and i feel terrible that this is the reason she is stuck being so self-conscious and uncomfortable. Does anyone know of an alternative to dentures and a safe dentist in the tristate area that would do the work for a reasonable fee? i’ve been saving up for school but would rather take a semester off and put it towards her teeth. any tips would be helpful, thanks..

I’m trying to find a decent dentist plan since my work doesn’t offer one. I’m hoping to not get too expensive in the monthly pay and decent benefits. I don’t want one that makes ya wait 6 months before getting anything done besides cleanings which I know is gonna be rare, but I figure maybe with the way things are companies are making exceptions. i would like to get braces. i haven’t been to the dentist in so long, it’s embarrassing. i turn 20 next month, so i still might be eligible to receive free insurance maybe? i have no clue. i can’t really pay a lot though because i’m only working part time right now & i’m not in school. any advice would be useful. thank you.

I have a wisdom tooth that is rotten, causing me lots of pain. I think it may be spreading to other teeth. I have no dental insurance and cannot afford to get the problem fixed at a regular dentist/oral surgeon. I just went to a dentist a few weeks ago & I was miserable with him. I had the x-rays & the examination. I wanted my cavities filled.
He had zero personality so rather than go back, I just went to a new one today & scheduled an appt. for the morning. I explained that I have gone through & paid for the initial consultation with someone else. I will have to pay for another exam, but they are allowing me to bring my x-rays I have with me. Things is, I have no idea what this is going to cost me for 3 fillings. 0? 00? I just don’t know what to expect. Any help is appreciated.

I am saving the money and currently have 00 and wonder if I can get the entire procedure done for that price, but I am also afraid that it will be so painful that I will miss work…..I am from Columbus Ohio. Is there an affordable dentist in my area?

I heard that there is a treatment some dentists are offering and they will completely knock you out before filling cavities,root canals etc. I am so frightened of the dentist I am willing to pay extra money for this.What is the name of this? Will insurance pay for part of it? Thanks for any info!!

My fee schedule says Periodic Oral Evaluation copayment is . Does that mean it will only cost me 20 or will it cost more. My husband hasn’t been to a dentist since he was 12 or 13 and he is now 22. Hi, I need some advice.Am in my 30’s and the dentist told me I have a bad case of periodontal disease and that although I have great teeeth nothing in the world can save them ( my denstist’s words).Basically my teeth have been coming loose from my gum and I already wear two partials some for my two top teeth and two bottom teeth.

Now here is the problem, my insurance only covers only $ 1500 worth of dental work. If I get the rest of my teeth pulled out @ 65 a tooth ( the cheapest I could find @ affordable dentures) it adds up to almost the total amount from insurance. I will be left with no teeth and no dentures!

So I have to come up with the rest of the balance to make the top and bottom set of dentures, am at a loss because I dont have this money. I know the least amount I have to have together on top of the 00 dental insurance money is 00. Any suggestions?

I had bad dental work done in Algondones, Mexico in February 2008 at Gator Dental Group. The dentist was Dr. Miguel Fuentes. He make seven (7) crowns for me and all seven (7) will need to be replaced. My bite was off, I could not floss between some crowns. The crowns were not seated correct so I had open margins plus extra cement around the gums and between the crowns. You can find good and bad dentist in Mexico and in the United States . I just found a bad one.
