I need to determine what type of writing dentists have to do, and what type of writing dental students have to do in dental school.

Sorry, I’m not sure I understand the question. Dentist learn medical terminology like doctors do. They have to write a thesis in order to graduate from dental school. Some Universities require an essay along with your application. Some schools require letter of recommendation with the application.
