Where can I find a low cost dental clinic or dentist in Ohio?
I really need to see a dentist, but being a single mom with no dental coverage I can’t really afford one. I am barely getting by as it is. I make sure my kids see their dentist on a regular basis (they have insurance) because I don’t want them to be ashamed of their teeth, like I am. I am willing to make payments, but currently can only afford small payments (maybe .00/month). I am not looking for a free ride. Most dentists can’t or won’t accept that small amount for the amount of work I need done. I feel so ashamed that I don’t smile like I used to.

Hi! One of the ideal alternatives is to call the local hospital or Dental School and see if they have any openings for patients to been seen by the dentists doing their clinic work. You can get good treatment at very low or no costs and the doctors are eager to do a good job and get credit from their supervising professors. Most teaching hospitals have a dental clinic and you should call and make an appointment. Often they will help you work at a low cost payment plan and you will be happy will the results. I’m not sure where you are in Ohio, but I know in downtown Cleveland, I’m not exactly sure where, there is a dental school that is pretty low cost. The work is done by supervised students but it is low cost. This may exist elsewhere but the only one I know for sure is in Cleveland.

Im not sure exactly where in Ohio you are but I would recommend contacting the University of Toledo. Actually contact any college that has a dental program. The "dental" students preform all aspects of dental procedures for a very low affordable price. If its not too far from you, I know for a fact that the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor offers this service. You wont find cheaper services and generally the students are very good because the instructors are watching. Another option you may like to look into is CARE CREDIT. Care Credit is a dental credit card that offers 12 months without interest. Almost all dental offices except it. You can apply online and have an answer within seconds or you can ask your dental office to apply for you. That way you can pay the dentist up front for the work you need and you have a year without any interest to pay Care Credit back. It makes the payments more affordable for many people. Im not sure if they have it in Ohio, but here in Michigan we have a dental clinic that bases their fees on a patients income. Actually its in Carleton, MI which is pretty close to the border. I wish I remembered the name of it for you. You can contact the Monroe County Health Department at (734) 240-7825 and see if they can be of more assistant to you. As a last resort you can contact local churches and explain the situation, they may know of a dentist that is willing to help. The dentist I work for is always eager to help those who want to have good oral hygiene but cannot afford it. Another thing you can try is putting a posting on craigs list to barter services. Maybe you can offer to clean the office as credit towards your dental treatment. It may be a bit hard to find someone willing to help, but it never hurts to ask. Good luck.
I am from aroun the Ohio area and I would reccomend using the phonebook and calling all the places and asking if you could pay what you could afford.Or using http://www.yellowpages.com and typing in dentist office or something lilke that. If you had to maybe get a loan or something.
